Artificial intelligence company xAI is looking to hire from the local employee pool to fill a number of positions as work is completed on its Memphis supercomputer site.
The company, founded by Elon Musk, has eight jobs currently listed as open in Memphis on its website, along with other opportunities in London and Palo Alto.
On their website, the company boasts that they are “working on building artificial intelligence to accelerate human scientific discovery. We are guided by our mission to advance our collective understanding of the universe.“
The highest paying job listed for Memphis is that of Superintendent, coming in with a pay rate of between $165 and $240 per hour, or an estimated $343,000 on the lower end for a 40-hour work week.
The official number of employees who will be hired at the facility, located in southwest Memphis in the old Electrolux building, has not been released, although the Daily Memphian quotes an unnamed source as saying that they would be hiring around 320 people.
The xAI facility, which is set to be the home of the “world’s largest supercomputer,” could be in business over the next few weeks.
