The U.S. Marshals service reports that an illegal alien wanted in New Jersey on charges of sex crimes against a minor was arrested in Memphis on Tuesday.
The Linden City Municipal Court in Union City, New Jersey issued a warrant on September 23 for 34-year-old Siamel Alberto Perez.
Perez was wanted for several charges, including one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a child, two counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of third-degree sexual assault, and one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
After U.S. Marshals in New Jersey who were hunting for Perez discovered that he had headed south and was possibly hiding out in the Memphis area. The Marshals’ Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Memphis was contacted to provide assistance in locating and catching Perez.
On October 1, Deputy Marshals, along with Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, located a car with a New Jersey license plate at the Sleep Inn Suites at American Way and Perkins Road.
As law enforcement staked a lookout, Perez was seen walking out of the hotel and into the parking lot. Marshals arrested him without further problem.
He is currently being held in the Shelby County Jail until he is extradited back to New Jersey.
