As Tennessee gets closer to the August 21st special-called legislative session on gun control, the heat is being turned up to stop efforts to enact a red flag law. Governor Lee announced the special session on May 8, 2023 in a media release linked here.

In making a formal resolution to support the Second Amendment, and oppose red flag laws, Empowered Jefferson became the fourth maker of such a resolution in Jefferson County, Tennessee. Similar resolutions were made earlier this year by the Jefferson County Republican Party, Jefferson County Commission, and the City of Dandridge

Empowered Jefferson urges other groups of concerned citizens and public bodies across the state to make their own resolutions and petitions to exercise their constitutional right to instruct their representatives.

“So many things are going wrong with our society, and it can be a bit overwhelming to tackle them on our own. We can make a bigger impact if we work with others and communicate with our leaders on important issues as a group. This resolution to our Governor and other Representatives lets them know that we are adamant about our Second Amendment (2A) rights. Our Founding Fathers did not put the 2A in our Constitution so we could have the right to hunt. They knew that a WELL armed citizenry was a deterrent against an overreaching or tyrannical government.” – Michelle Jinnette, Empowered Jefferson

Author’s note: Having addressed multiple groups in East Tennessee concerning red flag laws and the upcoming special legislative session, the following advice is offered to Tennessee legislators. “When the special session on gun control is called to order in August by the speaker of each chamber, all republicans should raise their hand. The first one recognized by the speaker should move to adjourn. The remainder of republicans in the body should vote to adjourn and then head home.” –  David Seal, Chairman, Jefferson County Republican Party

The idea behind Red Flag laws are flawed at the outset. They set the stage for Stallone’s “Judge Dredd”.
For those who haven’t seen the movie, it revolves around the idea an arrest can be made on the basis of brain waves and or statements made in the heat of the moment. They leave no room for appeal or dissent. Another example is Tn’s severely flawed carry laws. The law says you can carry but a police officer can decide he doesn’t like you carrying and charge you with “possession of a firearm with the intent to go armed, excuse me. No one can accurately predict how an individual will react in any given situation and generalizations do nothing to protect individual rights. All is see in rights being trampled and lawyers getting rich.

Excellent Jefferson County. These people have no constitutional right to declare any red flag law against We the People of Tennessee.

The PEOPLE better step up and make their voices heard in some way before this Sessions! Multitudes of letters, statements, petitions, calls and emails are fighting this and it has not abated. It is suspected up to 5,000 people will be bussed in protest FOR the laws. That farce has not been considered enough to postpone any discussion until January 2024. Something is wrong, and it is encumbent upon The People to protest in some way and warn their reps IF a yes vote, THEN they WILL BE REPLACED. Period. And a recall may be in order.

The solution is clear from the choice the shooter made to avoid the school that had armed security. There hasn’t been a successful terrorist attack on a school in Israel since 1974. Teachers and staff are armed.
Don’t depend on mental health professionals. The doctor is often sicker than the patient. They support “gender affirming care” for children.

If we really intend to prosecute people before they commit crimes, “Red Flag” those demographics most likley to do it rather than everyone else i.e., those already most responsible for violent crime.

That would be Leftoids, negroes and perverts including homosexuals which once was considered a mental illness and very likely still is, politicians not being the best psychiatric disgnosticians outside of “it takes one to know one.” “Trans” takes it to an all new level of cracked politics.

In fact, Leftoids, negroes and perverts have already made creditable threats and then followed through, rioting, killing normal people and burning down entire cities when they aren’t parading obscenely in the presence of minors which they apparently can’t do without. There isn’t much doubt that Audrey Hale made creditable threats in her manifesto before shooting up the Covenant School. Why we can’t see that manifesto and Hale’s creditable threats remains more a mystery than her motive to everyone except Governor Lee who has been no more forthcoming about his motives or much of anything, lately. One suspects political pandering in the extreme.

But always willing to compromise, even with those already profoundly compromised, if we are to prejudge people then let us be scientific about it and let the crimes statistics do it rather than fallible people with flighty emotions, ulterior motives and the latest fad in high places that must be taken ito consideration.

Because there can be no doubt that prohibiting Leftoids, negroes and perverts from owning firearms will undeniably reduce violent crime statistics significantly yet, minimize the number subjected to the prejudice of pre-criminal prosecution under “Red Flag” laws.

This is a win-win if ever there was one, Governor Lee, and in the name of all that is already comprised, I bet your consideration!
