Happy Constitution Day!  To Those Who Know What That Is… (Op-Ed By Kat Stansell)

SEVENTY TO EIGHTY PERCENT of Americans today lack basic familiarity with the provisions of our founding document. Is it any wonder we feel our national foundations CRUMBLING??

A compilation of test score results from college entrance exams, secondary education programs, the US Citizenship test, state civics tests, and the bar exam show that a full 70-80% of those being tested are ignorant of basic Constitutional tenets.

The bar exam. Is there any wonder our judiciary is such a sump pit??

My heart breaks at how our nation has changed since our founding document was signed, and it is no wonder, given the above. How did we let this happen??

Constitution Day is set aside to honor the literal brilliance of our founding fathers, their devotion to birthing a new and better nation, under God and their personal sacrifices to do so. Since the Globalist/One World/Marxist infiltration of the last decades, a day of celebration and remembrance must become a day of deep self-analysis for Patriots. Has each of us done enough to honor their memory and save our Republic?

Even now, though, America is the most envied nation on the globe. It is OUR JOB TO KEEP IT THAT WAY»> This involves being a watch dog, 24/7/365. You know, “ see something, say something”…. That phrase was invented by a NYC ad company to make us try to be alert to national terror threats post-9/11, but it every bit applies today.

Sadly, that phrase was taken over by Dept of Homeland Security to chase down Constitutional Conservatives under Obama and Biden. I itch to turn it on them, and I believe watching and acting on the performance of elected officials is one very good way.

The quickest way to see wht they are doing, is to ensure that those who represent us, in local, state and national government are voting with Constitutional principles.

To learn best, what they’re up to under the Capitol Dome or in your own back yard, know how they vote. NEVER ASSUME.

Several national organizations keep scorecards on the votes. The Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC), and the John Birch Society’s (JBS) Liberty Index are the two I used here. These two base their assessment on votes for (or against) legislation which includes constitutional principle.

For comparison, I‘ve given a few stats from the Club for Growth (CFG), the RINO/Globlaist organization that backed DeSantis’s failed run for POTUS in 2024. CFG is all about big business, not necessarily the Constitution, which usually means they favor those who play along.

Here, I’m showing you the scores of a sampling our elected officials, concentrating on “good red states” like Florida, Texas and Tennessee, which are supposed to be leading the way.

I start with Florida because of its national reputation, which you will soon see is unearned, as a top-tier “good red state”. Also, their Governor thinks he should be POTUS, so people need to understand what is going on in the state he runs. Scary.

Florida Constitutional Conservtive activists are still among the best in the nation.

Here are the numbers, from the Republican Liberty Caucus, Florida chapter, on how Republicans in Tallahassee vote.

The 2025 report shows that NO ONE IN THE FLORIDA STATEHOUSE HAS EARNED ABOVE A “C”. Florida Sen. (“Daddy”) Gaetz, Matt’s father, earned a “D”. Guess his second try at politics isn’t working out too well. He was reelected last December, after having been term-limited in 2016. He served as Senate President from 2012 2014 under Rick Scott. After all this experience in such a good red state, he still earns a “D”?? Did Floridians even LOOK at his record, or just vote for a name they recogonized?

Florida state government in Tallahassee is run by a “super-majority” of Republicans (governor, and majorities in both houses), so voting for conservative, Constitutional principles should be no problem. Lol, as they say.

On a national level, Florida‘s Representatives and Senators don’t fare a lot better. The Liberty Index shows that Sen. Scott voted with the Constitution 11 our of 20 chances for an embarrassing score of 55%, or “F”; Rubio was even worse, also an “F” with 45% of his votes in favor of our constitution.

All vote counts here of course, include “NO VOTE”, when the CongressCritter couldn’t (or did not want to) be present for the vote.

According to the John Birch Society’s Freedom Index, which was a bit kinder, Scott got a 71%, and Rubio, a 67%. The Club For Growth CFG) gave Scott a 91 and Rubio, an 86%.

In Tennessee, on the low side, US Reps Charles Fleischman and David Kustoff voted for our Constitution 58% and 56% respectively. Remember, TN US Rep Mark Green just up and quit shortly after the 199th Congress came into session. He had a business deal he just couldn’t refuse…. Since his voting record has been expunged, I have no idea how to score THAT, except just a Kat “F”! His Constituents were NOT pleased, as they had just reelected him, November 2024.

TN US Senators, Blackburn and Haggerty, earned a 68 and 84 respectively. Again, hardly “good red state” material. Club for Growth thinks Marsha earned 94% and Haggerty, an 87% The state still has some red strength, but not what you might imagine. John Rose State Rep, TN D6, has an 83%. Check out the links below.

Texas has 27 Representatives, whose scores on Constitutional issues range from Chip Roy (97%) down to Monica DeLaCruz (51%). Club For Growth awarded Cruz a 93%, and Cornyn, a 62, whereas the JBS index gave them a 70 (Cruz) and a 63) Cornyn. Texas does have, by far, the highest scores across the Congressional card, of the three states we’re l ooking at here. They also have the highest total of electoral votes, which the Newsome-led redistricting kerfuffle is trying to grab.

As I promised, here are the links to JBS and Republican Liberty Caucus for you to check out. You can find Club for Growth here.

Two hundred and thirty- eight years ago, thirty-nine men with God-given foresight signed the United States Constitution in 1787. They made huge personal sacrifice, traveling for days and weeks on horseback or buggy over treacherous miles, to gather in Philadelphia, which is now rotting in leftist offal, to debate and decide. There, quite obviously, were no phones or computers to aid them; the telegraph did not come along until the mid 1800’s.

They had only themselves, and their love for the thought of institutionalizing freedom.

THEIR AVERAGE AGE WAS 44. The youngest signer, Jonathan Dayton, was 26, the oldest, Ben Franklin, was 81. Look at what Americans of those ages are doing today. This is the part that really makes me sick I needn’t go on; you understand.

I could write for hours about the 81-year-old criminal, Biden, who lent his family name to a movement designed to turn our Republic into a Marxist mess. Or the ages of those praising the murder of 31-year-old Charlie Kirk. Or the 22-year-old who was so mentally afflicted that he had to kill because he couldn’t recognize what was in his pants.

Sorry. Had to say it. I just have to wonder how the framers of our Constitution, and the REPUBLIC (not “democracy”) it created would have dealt with gender dysphoria? Let your imaginations run wild…. God only makes two genders, and He does NOT make mistakes. In 1787, they didn’t need “science” or drugs” to know the truth about that. Neither do we today. We need more citizens who use their moral guideposts, which the Left has done their best to destroy.

Midterm elections are a short 14 months away, and we owe it to ourselves, our families and our nation to KNOW how those we sent to Washington DC are doing in their efforts to save our Constitutional Republic. Many are failing. If yours is one of those, let them know YOU know, and that you will be leading the charge to replace them as soon as possible.

Then DO IT.

Blessings,

Kat
