The Tennessee Conservative [By Olivia Lupia] –
Gov. Bill Lee announced on Monday the American subsidiary of a firearms maker based in Israel will be relocating their U.S. headquarters from Pennsylvania to Anderson County, Tennessee.
IWI U.S., Inc., the American brand of Israel Weapon Industries (IWI), was founded in 2013 and specializes in manufacturing firearms for commercial sale along with the law enforcement and government markets.
The relocation is expected to create 72 new jobs with a $15.7 million investment from the company and allow it to increase manufacturing capacity and ability to develop new technology for firearms.
“This move enables us to expand our operations, enhance production capabilities and create new opportunities for growth and collaboration,” said IWI CEO Casey Flack. “As we establish our presence in Andersonville, we remain firmly committed to upholding the highest standards of quality and innovation while becoming an engaged and supportive member of the local community.”
IWI U.S.’s application to the Anderson County Board of Zoning Appeals was unanimously approved at its Sept. 10 meeting, and Tennessee government leadership has expressed support for the move, lauding Tennessee as a haven for Second Amendment advocates.
“Tennessee is leading the nation as the best place to live, work, and raise a family, and I’m proud to announce that IWI U.S. has chosen to relocate its operations to the Volunteer State,” said Gov. Lee.
Lt. Gov. Randy McNally also approves of the move, saying, “IWI U.S.’s decision to invest and bring new jobs to Anderson County is another welcome vote of confidence for Tennessee’s highly skilled workforce, business-friendly climate, and pro-Second Amendment environment.”
Though there is no official timeline announced by the company, the relocation will likely be swift with state government support and zoning and permitting processes already underway.
