During a recent Homeland Security Taskforce roundtable, President Donald Trump commended the Memphis Safe Task Force for its impressive results and highlighted successes in other cities thanks to the deployment of the National Guard.
The President stated that crime numbers in Memphis are “down and half already”, calling the results “incredible”, even though “nobody thought it was possible.” Trump had previously described Memphis as “a very sick city” with “horrible” conditions.
Statistics from the U.S. Marshals Service seem to corroborate the President’s assertions about the significant crime decrease.
As of Friday, Oct. 24, the agency’s Memphis Safe Task Force update reported 1,457 total arrests. That number includes the detention of 113 gang members, recovery of 81 missing children, and the seizure of 274 firearms.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi also spoke at the roundtable, praising the ongoing “hand-in-hand” work of the Homeland Security taskforce in Memphis and their other operations around the country.
She gave credit to the constant communications and efforts of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Department of War Secretary Pete Hegseth, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, FBI Director Kash Patel, policy advisor Stephen Miller, and several others.
“I don’t think another administration in our nation’s history has worked so well together…We’re working seven days a week, 24 hours a day, even though the Democrats have shut down the government…You are doing so much to keep our citizens safe, our kids safe, and get these drugs off our streets,” Bondi said. “The results of this last month have been historic.”
Later, Bondi posted of the event, “Under President Trump’s leadership, the Homeland Security Task Force is working to make America safe for all Americans. I was honored to join so many fellow patriots yesterday to discuss the success of this task force, and the work we have planned for the future. City by city, our federal agents are ready to work with local law enforcement to take criminals off the street and make America safe again.”
