Representative Todd Warner Says “Planned Political Witch Hunt” Will Fail

Yet another conservative candidate running for office is the target of an attack mailer; this time it’s freshman Representative Todd Warner.
According to The Tennessee Journal, Republican primary challenger Jeff Ford, a former Williamson County Commissioner sent out the mailer to voters in District 92. The mailer announces that Warner is under investigation by the FBI, noting that his home and office were raided by federal agents, and seeks to lump him in with disgraced former speaker Glen Casada and other members of the state House such as Representative Robin Smith who resigned following a federal indictment on federal wire fraud charges.
Federal agents were allegedly looking into connections between Warner’s initial campaign and new vendors and political action committees that were involved with the 2020 race.
In her plea agreement this year, Smith acknowledged teaming up with Casada and the former House Speaker chief of staff, Cade Cothren, in a scheme to make money off of Republican lawmakers by taking kickbacks. Casada and Cothren have yet to be charged.
According to federal documents, Phoenix Solutions – a fake company based out of New Mexico – was set up by Cothren to solicit business while hiding his involvement. A racist and sexist texting scandal led to his resignation in 2019 and contributed to Casada being forced from the Speaker’s office.
Regarding the mailer and investigation, Representative Warner (R-Chapel Hill-District 92) issued this statement to The Tennessee Conservative:
“The Tennessee Journal has been writing garbage about me since before I even took office, and they have never reached out to me a single time for comment. Over the last two years, there’s rarely a week that goes by that I haven’t been featured on their front page – a truly unhealthy obsession that I would suggest their editor seek therapy for.
The attacks coming from my opponents are orchestrated in conjunction with career politicians, some from within my own party, and lobbyists in Nashville that cannot stand someone who is willing to stand up to them. My opponents are not able to attack me on my record and clearly don’t have anything they stand for themselves, so instead they take the shameful route of spreading dishonesty and slander in an attempt to hurt my family.
Thankfully, the voters of District 92 are smart folks and can see through the lies being shipped in from those in positions of power in Nashville.
The bottom line is simple: I defeated the brother of a sitting U.S. Senator and favors were called in afterwards because the former incumbent had his feelings hurt. I have done absolutely nothing wrong and I stand by that statement fully and firmly. On the day the FBI came to my home, there were already media outlets waiting outside my house even before the first agent knocked on my door. The whole process has been a planned, political witch hunt from the very beginning and those who have been hiding in the shadows trying to push this agenda WILL be exposed.
The promise I made my constituents two years ago is unchanged today: Even when those that don’t have our best interests at heart come after me, I will not back down, I will never be afraid to roll up my sleeves, and I will never stop working to be the number one freedom-fighting voice for the people of Tennessee!”
