Legislation that would designate an annual “Charlie Kirk Day” in Tennessee failed in the Senate State and Local Government Committee on Tuesday.
Senate Bill 1943 (SB1943), sponsored by State Senator Joey Hensley, would set aside September 10 as “Charlie Kirk Day.”
The bill was introduced and went to vote without any discussion. The final tally came in with 4 nays, 3 ayes, and 2 present not voting.
Republican State Senators Page Walley (R-Savannah-D26) and Tom Hatcher (R-Blount/Monroe/Polk/Bradley-D2) voted against the measure. Committee Chair Richard Briggs (R-Knoxville-D07) and State Senator Todd Gardenhire (R-Chattanooga-D10) both opted to pass on voting.
The companion House Bill 1480, sponsored by State Representative Gino Bulso (R-Brentwood-D61), sparked a heated debate in the House Naming and Designating Committee earlier this month but ended up passing that committee with a 7-3 vote.
It was sent to the House State and Local Government Committee but it has since been deferred repeatedly.

I wish them no harm but TN would be WAAY better without Briggs and Gardenhire.

DO NOT shirk your duty or you may find yourself unemployed. Special note to Senator Adam Lowe and Representative Mark Cochran: Pay attention.
