The Tennessee Conservative Staff –
There are 7 bills that the Tennessee Firearms Association (TFA) is tracking that are on the calendar for hearings the week of February 14th in the General Assembly.
The bills, the committee date and times and contact information can be found HERE.
The TFA reminds Tennesseans to contact not only their own House and Senate members on the bills but to also contact the subcommittee and committee members if they support or oppose the bills.
“Please contact your legislators with your comments on these bills and we encourage you to directly contact (emails included) the committee members,” John Harris, Executive Director of The Tennessee Firearms Association, states.
House Bill 2330 (HB2330) extends all existing handgun permits to become life permits.
Harris states, “While this is a concept that TFA will support, it is unclear if existing lifetime permit holders will get any refunds or if this is simply a huge, taxpayer funded gift to those who do not already have lifetime permits. We expect a large fiscal note to kill the bill unless those costs are included in the governor’s budget.”

Regarding House Bill 2724 (HB2724), Harris comments that the bill is “a dangerous step back relative to your right to store a firearm in a personal vehicle. TFA opposes the bill.”
TFA has not taken a position on House Bill 2689 (HB2869) that is in regards to hunting over baited fields.
Regarding House Bill 1830 (HB1830), Harris states that the bill is “an effort by the bill sponsors to make gun control a public health issue. TFA opposes this bill.”
