TNGOP Speaker Cameron Sexton Bans All Conservative Reporters

SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, TN – Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton has banned all Conservative reporters from full access to the Tennessee Legislature.

In a text screen shot received from a source that requests to remain anonymous, House Speaker Cameron Sexton personally described how he purposely keeps out other Conservative news organizations, specifically citing the Tennessee Star.

While Sexton claims the Tennessee Press Corps determines who has floor and press conference access, the chairman of the organization, Kimberlee Kruesi, explained that is not true.

“Membership is based on who pays rent for space inside Cordell Hull’s press room, but at times, we vote to allow others because space is limited inside the room. As chair, I help facilitate these votes (over email), but I do not and have not ever told the House or Senate speakers who should or should not be allowed on the floor or in press avails,” Kruesi wrote to the Tennessee Conservative.

On Tuesday, January 14th, the left-leaning Tennessee Press Corps contacted The Tennessee Conservative to tell us they had voted unanimously to REJECT our press corps membership, which would have granted our Capitol reporter, Adelia Kirchner, full access to the General Assembly.

The Tennessee Press Corps consists of liberal news publications like the Associated Press, The Tennessee Lookout, The Times Free-Press, The Nashville Scene, Chalkbeat and National Public Radio… yet ZERO Conservative news outlets have never been let in.

Many reporters from left-leaning news publications are granted full access to the General Assembly by GOP leadership, regardless of their membership in the Press Corps.

Since Cameron Sexton will not listen to the thousands of Conservatives that reached out to him on our behalf, we have no choice but to take our case directly to his constituents back in his home district. Within the month, we will launch a grassroots “TN Free Press Petition Drive” targeted at Sexton’s most prolific 4-of-4 GOP primary voters. Sexton may be invulnerable in Nashville, but he’s just as dependent on his home district as any other house member,” Brandon Lewis of the Tennessee Conservative News said.

“Further, it is my hope this gets national media attention from Conservative news outlets. We urge our readers to pass this press release on to any members of the Conservative media they may know,” Lewis concluded.

In a state that overwhelmingly votes Conservative, many GOP primary voters feel it is a shame we have such poor leadership in Cameron Sexton.

  1. This is outrageous and either stupid or fishy > “the left-leaning Tennessee Press Corps contacted The Tennessee Conservative to tell us they had voted unanimously to REJECT our press corps membership, which would have granted our Capitol reporter, Adelia Kirchner, full access to the General Assembly.”

Why would Republicans allow this? Are they RINO’s? Anyone who would allow this is either a RINO or truly stupid.
