The Tennessee Conservative [By Jason Vaughn] –

Two ethics complaints have been filed with the Tennessee Registry of Election Finance against Gary Humble, who is running against incumbent Jack Johnson for the District 27 Tennessee Senate seat.  One alleges that he is an illegal lobbyist and the other that he sent out a campaign mailer without a disclaimer statement.

In response to the allegations that Humble should be a registered lobbyist and that he has been illegally lobbying along with his organization Tennessee Stands, he said, “The problem is that the Johnson campaign and/or this poor soul that filed the complaint does not understand the distinct difference between direct lobbying and grassroots lobbying.”

Humble verified that he is not a paid lobbyist, that he does not lobby on behalf of any special interests and that no corporation is paying him to lobby for their benefit.

Humble explained that he does, however, grassroots lobby and that he asks State representatives to run bills and support certain efforts.

Tennessee Stands is a grassroots lobbying organization that this year alone asked Tennessee citizens to support twelve bills that were working their way through the legislature.

Through the Tennessee Stands website, residents sent a total of over 140,000 emails to 100 state legislators during the last session of the General Assembly.

Humble made the point that if he is considered an illegal, unregistered lobbyist, then all the Tennessee residents who participate in grassroots lobbying of this type are as well.

“If you’ve sent an email to any state representative and asked them to support a bill to defend your liberty, and you have not registered as a lobbyist, according to this complaint, you are illegally lobbying,” Humble said.

Humble went on to say that any other citizen communications with elected officials to discuss legislation, whether it be by phone or meeting with them personally, according to this complaint, would also be considered illegal.

Regarding the campaign mailer Humble’s team sent out that lacked a “paid for” disclaimer, he stated that it was an unintentional clerical error.

Press on Gary. Take no prisoners. Whining and carping from the establishment is becoming too common.

These Rino’s really do not want anyone running against them. In my life time I have never seen such disgusting, dirty, people trying to keep their power. We need term limits here in TN. is seems.

Gary is THE best candidate for this campaign!
He fights hard for Tennesseans and the RINO’s are clearly afraid of him based on their tired accusations over petty clerical errors!
    Go Gary Go!

I think you are on the wrong website. Do you know him personally? Just asking?
In God we trust not government or man. Have a blessed day.
