Tennessee Democratic State Representative Gloria Johnson has been putting together a campaign staff as she makes plans to go head-to-head with Republican U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn next year, challenging her for one of Tennessee’s congressional seats.

Johnson became a nationally recognized name when she became part of the “Tennessee Three” and was one of the state lawmakers who was up for expulsion for her participation in a protest on the Capitol floor. She is the only one of the three who was not voted out by legislators.

Although Johnson has not yet made an official campaign announcement, she is expected to do so in the upcoming weeks. Individuals who have knowledge of her plan to run have confirmed the hiring of her campaign staff to The Tennessean.

Johnson is a retired teacher and was elected to the Tennessee House in 2012. While she lost her seat in later elections, she regained it in 2018. Johnson is known to be one of the more vocal members of the House Democrats.

“I’m having a lot of conversations with people who are hungry for better leadership in Washington,” Johnson stated. “Tennesseans deserve someone who will stand up to special interests and fight to lower costs for families to build good lives. We have a senator who stands with bullies, and I have a reputation for standing up to bullies.”

Johnson is not the only possible Democratic candidate. Marquita Bradshaw, who was the Democratic party’s 202 nominee for Senate, has also filed to run in the upcoming election. She won the primary in 2020 but then lost to Republican Senator Bill Hagerty.

If Johnson is granted the Democratic nomination, she will be challenging Blackburn, who won her seat against former Democratic Governor Phil Bredesen in 2018. Bredesen is the last Democrat to win a statewide election in Tennessee when he was reelected as governor in 2006.

Blackburn’s camp does not seem to be overly concerned by the possible announcement.

“Marquita Bradshaw and Gloria Johnson are liberal democrats who are out of step with the people of Tennessee and are aligned with Joe Biden’s failed policies that are making their lives tougher every single day,” said Abigail Sigler, campaign spokesperson for Blackburn.

Two anti American globalist traitors going up against each other, ho hum. I wouldn’t support either, but I guess that’s irrelevant now that satan worshipping Jon Duda and the 16 Williamson county gutless traitors destroyed any chance of real elections.
