Eyes Wide Shut (Op-Ed by Thomas Antkow)

If you take the time to observe what really is happening to the foundation of United States democracy with “eyes wide open”, not shut, you will be shocked. The original underpinnings of our freedom are gradually and purposely being eroded away. The ultimate in water torture. I don’t mean waterboarding. I mean the constant drip, drip, drip dissolving the social network under our feet. Insidious, calculated sleight of hand.
First, violence and intimidation. When society was fed up and resisted, radicals employed a more peaceful means. Indoctrination and compliance through propaganda-based education. Sometimes re-education. An attempt at fundamentally transforming America as we know it from the inside out. Even some modern-day politicians have confidently extolled that campaign promise out loud.
Don’t misunderstand. Violent protest is still being employed to get attention and media coverage. It is a deflection technique to keep the population watching the shiny object. All the while building an army of education administrators to control the institutional standards and recruiting teachers and professors as troops on the ground to carry out their bidding. Propaganda, indoctrination, and compliance through education.
During the 60’s The Weather Underground, a radical organization whose goal was to overthrow and transform the United States into a more “socially progressive society” employed violence and fomented unrest by engaging in what they believed was “A Cultural Revolution”.
The commanders and organizers of their troops of ragtag under-educated youth, were well educated authors, often possessed degrees, were articulate, impatient, and ruthless. They believed that since prior tactics of guerilla warfare, assassinations, kidnapping, bombings, and shock and awe utilized in prior revolutions got the people’s attention, why not try it. Defeat was inevitable. Their white horses were getting weary along with the general population. Failure was on the horizon. Convinced that continuing to get their hands dirty and their involvement was below their intellectual standards, they evolved into the “teaspoon makes the medicine go down” techniques.
Having lived through years of violence on college campuses, riots in the streets, senseless murders, assassinations, burning cities and unchecked looting, I have witnessed the mayhem. Sometimes it is very difficult to see the forest for the trees. We know hindsight is a 20/20 exercise. Perfect vision can often be illuminated by seeing the facts in print. Reading a book.
I was recently informed about a fascinating book titled AMERICA’S CULTURAL REVOLUTION. “HOW THE RADICAL LEFT CONQUERED EVERYTHING”, BY CHRISTOPHER F. RUFO. The cast of characters is extensive. Quite deserving of further research to understand the genesis of the threat to our free society. Names like Herbert Marcuse, Angela Davis, Palo Freire, Derrick Bell, Bernardine Dohrn. Organizations like Black Liberation Army, Student for a Democratic Society, Black Lives Matter. Writers such as Bill Ayers, and Saul Alinsky. Phrases pertaining to “reverse racism”, “DEI” diversity, equity, and inclusion. The New Left hit parade. Especially with neo-left politicos like H. Clinton and B. Obama both academics themselves. The list goes on. The book, a must read for anyone wishing to change the direction of our Country.
Here is just one “eye opening” quote from the author.
“By combining the academic program of the critical theories with the bureaucratic program of diversity training, left-wing activists discovered the formula for expanding their power over the university as a whole”.
Hide in plain sight and focus not on the government, public or status quo. Use education as the new tool to victory. The impressionable mind is a terrible thing to waste.
College education was the gold standard. Elitism was the game of the day. That’s why liberal politicians are trying so hard to attract the 18–25-year-old vote and advocate FREE COLLEGE! Hands-on trades were for the underclass. White collars trumped any blue collar advocation. Not anymore.
My radical gameplan?
1. Bar attorneys from ever becoming legislators in any branch of local, state, or federal government. (Wishful thinking I know)
2. END tenure and BAN teachers’ unions in all fields of education. Especially college.
3. Mandate a delay of college entry until high school graduates apprentice for 2-year service in a trade school.
4. Bring back “non-biased journalism” to print, social and broadcast media.
5. Rescue our vulnerable children. Primary education is the next target.

What an excellent article! I have been watching this unfold since Obama, I started really watching closely during 08 elections and watching & listening to Barry, and for the first time, I heard this man promoting socialism. “Hope and Change” was left open to individual interpretation because he never truly defined what his true vision was, though he did leave clue’s IF you knew what to listen for. The famous line was, “We are 5 days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America!” He wasn’t lying and all the dunderheads cheered. I raised the alarm to anyone who would listen and I was laughed at, called a tinfoil hatter conspiracy theorist, a racist, etc. Even members of my own family who knew me well enough to know damn well I have never been a racist. It really hurt. After he was elected, almost immediately, the racial tensions started up, ( everyone thought the opposite electing a black man ) but boy did that ever backfire! Prof Henry Gates & Trayvon Martin where he chastised the police and Trayvon who “could have been his son” just poured fuel on the fire. The MSM covered for that man like nothing I have ever seen, they treated him like a Messiah, ignoring any negative info about him and his background of unsavory characters he was associated with. Those characters revealed exactly who he really was and where his beliefs and allegiances lay. It was ignored. He continued to “play the moderate” while he chipped away at our institutions, installing marxists in our highest power positions, courts, military, medical, banks, education, etc. When Trump upset the apple cart by winning the 2016 election, the masks came off and they showed who they really were. They sabotaged him 24/7/365 and STILL ARE! If there was any doubt what their intentions were, Covid erased all of that. They hate this country, I remember Barry went on an apology tour around the world, saying we were arrogant, etc. Now, here we are, a senile crook installed as puppet POTUS while Barry is still very much involved behind the scenes trying to ( in their words ) “finish the job” of transforming our great country into a marxist nightmare. If our teachers had actually taught our kids real history, it would have been more obvious to everyone what was happening, but taking over education and distorting it is right out of the marxist/communist playbook.
Can we stop this madness before it’s too late is the question.
Well written and the statements are all true. Some of us over 65 have been saying the same thing for years. If you have been paying attention it is very obvious how the Marxist left operates.
I hope those reading this pass this on to others.
