Former Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy, Johnathan Nathaniel Allen, who was arrested at the end of 2024 for sexual exploitation of a minor is facing up to three decades behind bars after pleading guilty to producing child sexual abuse material in a federal case tied to South Carolina.
Allen, a Chattanooga resident at the time of the criminal solicitation and sexual exploitation of the then 13-year-old girl, was terminated from his job following a pre-disciplinary hearing.
According to federal investigators, Allen, then 25-years-old, posed as a 14-year-old boy named “Josh” and contacted the girl in September 2024 using both Reddit and a texting app.
After obtaining her phone number, Allen coerced the girl into sending him nude photos and sexual videos of herself. Allen promised he would not share the material that she sent to him, telling her that she could trust him, while also asking that she delete messages so no one else would see them.
Upon searching Allen’s home, investigators found a phone containing the fake identity, as well as the Reddit and TextMe accounts. Clothing that matched images shared online was also found.
Having pled guilty to the charges, Allen now faces a minimum of 15 years and as much as 30 years in federal prison. Along with being required to register as a sex offender and face lifetime supervision after completing his sentence, Allen will also have to pay restitution and a fine of up to $250,000.
