Gardenhire Joins With Democrats To Give Illegal Aliens Taxpayer-Funded College Perks

Sen. Todd Gardenhire (R-Chattanooga-District 10) is sponsoring a bill that would give illegal aliens free college tuition in exchange for teaching in a Tennessee public school for at least five years.
Senate Bill 0297 says that anyone not eligible for in-state tuition – which would include out-of-state residents and students noted in the bill “without lawful immigration status” – could get the in-state tuition rate if they enroll in a teacher prep program.
The difference between the in-state tuition rate and the out-of-state tuition rate would be covered by money from the Tennessee assistance corporation in the form of a loan. Then, if the student signs the loan agreement to teach in a Tennessee public school for at least 5 years, their student loan will be forgiven.
Gardenhire has teamed up with Democrat Rep. Yusuf Hakeem (D-Chattanooga-District 28) to be his co-sponsor in the House with HB1294.
Gardenhire also has a back-up caption bill with Rep. Mark White that might be used as a backup should SB 0297 fail to pass.
Sen. Gardenhire has had four bills in the past trying to give illegal alien students, especially DACA grantees, in-state tuition. None have succeeded so far.
The Tennessee Conservative reached out to Sen. Gardenhire to ask for clarification on SB 0297 but did not receive a reply before publication.

I disagree with your slanted article about Senator Gardenhire. The vast majority of Migrant Workers are hard working, and loving, devoted parents. I am not opposed to helping these students achieve the American dream. It looks like there are stipulations required in order to qualify for assistance. Why not support this?
