Chris Spencer For State Senate Press Release –

Republican candidates for Statewide office often boast of their allegiance to the 2nd Amendment and pledge to support it with everything they’ve got.

“Unfortunately for Ferrell Haile, he has refused to lift a finger in the past decade to do anything of substance to secure these rights for Tennesseans,” remarked Haile’s Republican Challenger, Chris Spencer. “Haile has had ample opportunity rather than being the ‘Me, too!’ legislator to be the “Me, first!’ legislator on this issue.”

Ever since the Republicans took a Supermajority in the State House and Senate, local 2nd Amendment advocacy groups have begged the Senate to pass “Constitutional Carry” legislation that would remove the racist language of the Tennessee Code Annotated and replace it with 2nd Amendment appropriate language that would free Tennessee gun owners from the antiquated restrictions placed against law-abiding citizens.

Years back, former 17th District Senator Mae Beavers shepherded a Constitutional Carry bill through the Senate, but RINO Beth Harwell blocked it in the House. Since then, no one in the Senate has championed this legislation, specifically Ferrell Haile.

“I’m not sure Ferrell Haile could even describe the intent of the 2nd Amendment,” remarked Spencer. “His inaction speaks volumes to his constituents, who continued to be embarrassed that Tennessee, with its vaunted Republican supermajority can’t even keep up with Blue States like Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. If there ever was a state that should have full Constitutional Carry, it should be the Volunteer State.”

The statewide and national gun advocacy groups have gotten the message from Haile as neither Gun Owners of America, National Association of Gun Rights or the local Tennessee Firearms Association have ever given Haile a penny. The most he has been able to coax out of the corrupt NRA is a measly $500 in twelve years.

Spencer concluded, “Unlike Haile, who is the 2nd Ranking Member of the Senate and could have asserted leadership on this issue, I have already been supported by Tennessee Firearms Association and I pledge to be front and center in the battle to restore the God-given rights of Tennesseans to keep and bear arms.”
