The Tennessee Conservative [By Jason Vaughn] –
Tennessee Conservatives PAC recently sent a deceptive mailer to Williamson County voters alleging that District 27 Conservative candidate Gary Humble is a “grifter” and that he has a long history of “selling out conservatives.”
***Note from The Tennessee Conservative: The Tennessee Conservative news publication is in no way associated with Tennessee Conservatives PAC.***
Gary Humble is currently running against Republican Senate leader incumbent Jack Johnson for the District 27 Senate seat.
The mailer claims that Humble is “not a conservative” and that he has “actively worked against Tennessee Conservatives and Republican Governor Bill Lee to prevent his conservative Republican agenda.”
For the above statement, the mailer references an article that appeared in the Tennessee Lookout titled “New Conservative group Tennessee Stands takes on government mandates”.
The Tennessee Lookout article states, “In the six months since Tennessee Stands launched as a fresh conservative voice railing against pandemic policies — galvanizing resistance to COVID-19 emergency orders by state and local officials — the newly established nonprofit has worked to coalesce resistance to government mandates during the pandemic.”
The mailer goes on to allege that Humble lobbied against Conservatives by stating, “Grifter Gary Humble lobbied against Governor Lee’s conservative Republican agenda, and even used his political group to sue Gov. Bill Lee and county officials.”
Again, the mailer cites the article from The Tennessee Lookout that states, “Tennessee Stands and its founder, Gary Humble, have filed lawsuits against Gov. Bill Lee and county officials, organized protests over mask mandates and business restrictions in town squares across Tennessee…and lobbied for law changes.”
Humble was quoted in the article saying, “We want accountability and we want respect for the state constitution.”
Tennessee Stands opposes government overreach and lawless executive orders. Members of the organization seek to reclaim personal liberties that have been lost or infringed upon in the Volunteer State, especially since the onset of the government’s response to COVID-19.
In response to this reference to the Tennessee Lookout article, Humble said, “Basically… they (The Tennessee Lookout) wrote a piece calling me a conservative and how conservative I am, yet this is the article that they (Tennessee Conservatives PAC) reference saying, ‘I’m just nothing but a grifter and I’m working against conservatives.’”
“According to this article, I’m the bastion of conservatism. We are against government overreach (I am). We believe that Governor Lee’s executive orders during the pandemic were wholly unconstitutional (I do), because Governors don’t make laws and because the legislature sat by idle while our Governor made laws,” Humble said.
The mailer contains a statement that it was “Paid for by Tennessee Conservatives not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.”
However, Humble draws some very compelling connections between the PAC, launched in May 2022, Nashville-based lobbyists, woke corporations, big pharma and out-of-state funding in a follow-the-money style investigation that can be viewed below.

Wow. They are desperate indeed. If you consider the special interest/lobbyist pandering GOP as “conservative”, everything they said was true – but that’s not a bad thing at all. Gary is not a “conservative” by Bill Lee’s definition – I say great! Lee had a perfect chance to prove himself a defender of liberty for Tennesseans and failed miserably. But Bill Lee isn’t the kind of “conservative” we want, either.
I agree. He has disappointed all conservatives and met with Bill Gates 6 times. That is not conservatism!!!
This is real politics; this is how it is done. Jack Johnson has never been opposed and, apparently, has kept TPTB happy. What Gary has shown here is the problem with our system. John Adams said “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Our government has been so corrupted that it is hardly recognizable from what it was intended to be. The Founding Fathers knew this would happen and warned us. Madison said “If our nation is ever taken over, it will be taken over from within” and Jefferson warned “the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.” We are at that time now (no, I am not advocating physical violence). What we need to do is replenish the ranks of our leaders with truly moral men and women. It has taken two hundred and thirty three years to get to this point and we’ll not get it back quickly, but if we don’t start now, it will never happen. Gary Humble is a man that we desperately need in our legislature.
Well I guess we see how the incumbents are going to try to cheat to stay in office. The Gov. is not a conservative. These incumbents need to be removed from office. You can’t trust any of them. Democrat or Republican. They are all crooked.
Bill Lee……conservative…..c’mon man!
I received this mailer. I was quite surprised by the attack. I knew of Gary Humble from the TN Stands organization. I also knew that Jack Johnson did nothing to fight back against Lee’s overreach or weak response. I always knew Lee was going to be Haslam like. But seeing Jack and his backers respond in such a vicious attack tells me that Gary Humble is making headway in his challenge to jack Johnson. I had decided long ago that Jack Johnson needed to go when he supported the gas tax increase in 2017 which strangely was about the same time his wife Deanna was appointed to a judgeship by then Gov Haslam. I think Jack Johnson needs to go to playing with his band full time.
Tennessee Lookout is a liberal newsletter run by a Dem activist. They pretend to be neutral but they aren’t.
People like Jack must feel really threatened by you. Hang in there Gary.
