By David Seal, Tennessee Conservative News –
I know what it’s like when the government comes after your family’s land.
My family owned a farm in Jefferson County for five generations. Then the government threatened to take it through eminent domain to make way for an industrial park.
I fought back, organized my neighbors, and helped save more than 100 homes from condemnation.
That experience changed my life.
After retiring from 32 years of teaching, I began reporting for The Tennessee Conservative because I saw the difference independent journalism could make.
And then Hurricane Helene struck East Tennessee.
While families were still recovering from devastating flooding, the state targeted 45 properties for emergency condemnation proceedings to repair damaged roads.
Some of these families had already lost their homes!
I investigated. The Tennessee Conservative exposed what was happening. And within days, state officials announced they were reducing the number of properties needed from 45 to just SIX!
That’s why I write for The Tennessee Conservative.
Because when government overreaches, somebody has to tell the truth.
But reporting like this costs money, and we depend on readers like YOU to keep it going.
Will you stand with me and help keep this reporting alive?
