“They’re making their [living] of government money… there’s nothing wrong with that, but…”
Well, there’s your problem, right there.
1. There shouldn’t be unions for government employees. Conflict of interest — The government Department of Education negotiating “against” a teacher’s union which is implementing their agenda and the more they make, the stronger the DOE’s power in pushing these agendas. It’s in the DOE’s & politicians’ interest to give the union whatever they demand. It comes right back to them.
2. We have seen how “government-provided education” is an oxymoron. Now that we’ve seen a dramatic turn from pervasive, subtle, progressive revisionism in the humanities and liberal arts over the years, to gun-to-head imposition of government-supported propaganda, the danger of schools as a tool of the state have become clear. the current teachers, with a few brave exceptions, of course, are a product of that propaganda mill and they won’t back off the agenda with or without the materials currently under debate.
We can’t — at this point — just dismantle the DOE, a multi-billion-dollar federal bureaucracy, with millions of paid employees and bought-in constituents. But we CAN acknowledge the reality of the situation, name it, and fight it head on. Nibbling away at the edges, banning this or that book or class exercise, just won’t do it. Curriculum developers are working tirelessly to work their agendas into the schools and into children’s minds and you will find your children to be working as hard against you as these true-believer deviants in civil “service” and in office. It’s later than you think.
