Jerri Green is the Democrat running for Governor of Tennessee. If anyone tries to tell you that Jerri Green would be a good Governor, ask them what she has done to reduce crime in Memphis, which is the Most Dangerous Large City in the U.S., and where she is on the City Council. There is no reason to think she would be a good governor. Trust me – don’t go to Memphis unless you have to. Proof is below.

Jerri Green serves on the Memphis City Council and is the Shelby County Chief Public Defender. She has served almost 3 years on the Memphis City Council – since January 1, 2024. As recently as May 2025, Homeland Security labeled Shelby County as a “Sanctuary Jurisdiction”.
Memphis is the Most Dangerous Large City in the U.S. Not just “dangerous” – it is the MOST dangerous large city in the U.S. AI says > “As of August 2026, Memphis ranks highest in total crime among the 50 largest U.S. cities, with a total crime rate 266% above the national average.” Memphis is so dangerous it is called Memphganistan. It’s like a third world country.
A TIP > You should NOT go to Memphis unless you have to, and if you must go, carry a gun and watch your back – the murderers will sneak up behind you and shoot you in the back of the head. An example is below.
If I lived in the Most Dangerous City in the U.S., I would work hard to make it safer. What has Jerri Green done to make Memphis safer? Not much. All Jerri Green claims to have done is give away free gun locks. That’s her big success story.

I asked AI this question > “Has Jerri Green done anything to make Memphis safer?” AI said > “Jerri Green has focused on addressing jail overcrowding and advocating for humane treatment within the criminal justice system, but she has also criticized the deployment of the National Guard and ICE in Memphis, arguing that these measures do not effectively enhance public safety. Her approach emphasizes community cooperation and addressing root causes of crime rather than military presence.”
The first step to solving a problem is to admit there is a problem and Memphis officials seem to be in denial. Memphis has NOT been able to solve their problem. They claim crime is dropping, and it might be since the State and Feds got involved, but I would like to see their numbers. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have redefined “crime” to make the numbers look better.
I asked AI > “Is Jerri Green a progressive?” and the answer was > “Yes, Jerri Green identifies as a progressive. She emphasizes her pragmatic approach to governance while advocating for policies that support working families and healthcare access.”
I absolutely do NOT want TN to become like Memphis. Some facts and stories about Memphis are below.
Memphganistan > There’s a song, a movie and a book by that name. A review of the book says > “Poverty, violence, pain, despair, and murder is the backdrop of these five kids lives while growing up in Memphis.” Can you imagine living like that? The song and a movie named Memphganistan are by a famous rapper named MoneyBagg Yo. He grew up in Memphis but moved to Atlanta in 2022 to escape the violence in Memphis after his friend Big Nuskie was murdered. He has kids and didn’t feel safe in Memphis. He is wealthy and sounds smart.
Murder of the Memphis Chamber of Commerce CEO > In 2018 the CEO of the Memphis Chamber was shot in the back of the head. A random robbery. Guys in a stolen car. They killed him first and then robbed him. He had moved Downtown to prove that Memphis was safe. I think he was the only Chamber of Commerce CEO murdered in the U.S. – I couldn’t find another one. No one is safe in Memphis.
Residents have gotten used to crime > An abnormal culture of crime has become “normal” to residents and they aren’t outraged like most people would be. They will say “That’s just Memphis”. Below are 4 Memphis Stories that I heard or experienced personally >
(a). I worked with a guy from a rich Memphis family. One day he told me he was going to a funeral because one of his wife’s girlfriends in Memphis had been murdered. Keep in mind that these were rich people and he was in his 30’s. He said she had gone to meet a friend for dinner at a nice restaurant, came out to her car, and a stranger walked up and shot her in the head. They thought it was a gang initiation. I was shocked and said “That’s terrible. I’ll bet that was front page news”. He gave me a puzzled look and said words I’ll never forget > “No. That’s just Memphis”.
(b). The same guy told me that he visited his family in Memphis over Christmas. He was talking to his brother who lived in a Gated Community with a security guard surrounded by a brick wall. The brother said “I could just kick myself.” The reason was because he forgot to chain his bicycle to the pole in his garage and it was stolen. Think about that. A gated, walled community with a guard and he still had to chain his bicycle to a pole in his garage. And he blamed himself because it was stolen.
c). Where can I get a Memphis Door? The rich guy was given a home in a wealthy area of Nashville by a family member, He came into my office and said “Do you know where I can get a Memphis Door? I’ve looked all over and can’t find one. Everyone has them in Memphis.” I had never heard of a Memphis Door and asked “What is a Memphis Door?” He explained to me that it was to keep out the home invaders who would steal a van, back it up to a front door, break down the front door, rush inside, and rob the occupants. I told him “We don’t need that in Nashville.”
(d). Add it to my collection > 2 guys who worked for a big Memphis company went there for training. The facility had an outdoor track. They were walking on the track and one stepped on something. It was the lead part of a bullet. He took it inside and handed it to the security guard. The guard pulled out a can full of lead bullets and said “Add it to my collection.”

Two more personal Memphis Stories >
(a). Have you ever driven through a gun fight? I was on the phone talking to a guy about business. It was in the middle of the day and he was driving on a street in Memphis. Suddenly I heard gun shots and the call stopped. When he called me back he said he had driven through a gun fight. Have you ever driven through a gun fight? He lived in a nice area of Memphis but a few years later his neighbor was murdered when she went out to her car at night.
(b). 7 carjackings in one week > About 20 years ago a client asked me to look at a small retail property on a 5-lane highway near the Airport. I pulled up at about 10 am and noticed bars on the windows. I’ve seen that before but it worried me a little. There was a Bank of America next door and a security guard was out front. I walked over and asked him if he was taking a break. He said “No, I’m stationed out front.” I said “In Nashville, the guards are inside the bank.” He said “There’s a guard inside the bank too. I’m out here because there were 7 carjackings last week in this parking lot.” I got out of there.

See https://tennesseeconservativenews.com/memphis-city-council-passes-resolution-opposing-ice-national-guard-as-part-of-federal-task-force/ where Democrat gubernatorial candidate and City Council member Jerri Green said, “People are being rounded up on buses in the middle of the night because of the color of their skin and their accent. They are being asked for their papers like Nazi Germany.”
