Monica Irvine Press Release –

My name is Monica Irvine and I am running for the 6th District Senate Seat for the great state of Tennessee. I am a conservative constitutionalist Republican “called” to stand for truth. I will honor our founding fathers, our men and women of the armed forces and all citizens across Tennessee who hold our individual liberties enshrined in the Constitution to be sacred.

Protecting the Unborn

While serving as a board member of Tennessee Right to Life (TNRtL) last winter, I was made aware of Sen Becky Massey’s bill, SB-0857, that would drastically expand abortions in TN. Because TNRtL had previously endorsed Massey, I was utterly shocked. After meeting with Massey and determining that she had indeed changed her mind regarding protecting every boy and girl in the womb, I had no choice but to challenge her.

I will always vote to protect life, from conception until the end of life.

Sadly, I must admit, that I have not previously done my due diligence in paying close attention to how my representative was voting on other important issues that affect my community and my beloved state of  Tennessee. The closer I dove into my opponent’s voting record, the more disappointed I became and the more convicted of my call to run.

Myself and all Tennessee citizens must become better informed regarding how our Representatives and Senators vote, so that we can ensure our values and the  sacred principles protected by the Constitution are preserved.

Protecting Parental Authority

I know that God has endowed parents with the role of raising, stewarding and loving his children. This sacred duty comes with the greatest of responsibilities. The fact that Sen Massey has time and time again,  threatened parental authority and sought to rob parents of this charge, has been quite alarming to me.

Sen Massey has failed to support School Choice twice now,  knowing that parents across our state are begging for the ability to have more choices. Whether they are looking to find a better atmosphere that meets their family’s academic goals or better aligns with their moral code or simply provides a service that their current zoned school does not, families simply deserve educational freedom!

The audacity that anyone, at this  point, would say to a parent, “We are NOT going to ensure that books that have explicit content including pornographic language and images that groom your children for sexual exploitation will never be available on our school shelves, yet you must continue to send your children into that  environment,” is beyond my imagination.

I support Universal School Choice and will work diligently to give every  parent this right.

My opponent also voted in the affirmative for Sen Briggs’ bill, SB-0148,  that would allow health care providers to treat/prevent STD’s for minors without parental consent, including giving the HPV vaccine. This is terribly frightening. As a parent, I cannot imagine anyone trying to rob me  of my right to be informed of my child’s health care. How did we get here?

I will never vote to allow any healthcare provider to service minors without parental consent. I will also work to repeal the Mature Minor Doctrine that currently sets the age of consent to 14. Minors are identified as “minors”  because they are too young to take responsibility for their healthcare and make decisions that can have life long consequences. The consent age should be 18, regardless. I will protect our children.

One of the most shocking votes that I’ve discovered was when my opponent took a “present but not voting” vote on SB-0126. This bill prohibited  children from receiving chemical transitioning treatment including  hormone blockers. You and I elect our officials to represent their  constituents and take a STAND!

We are not loving our children and the citizens of TN when we will not take a stand against the lie of transgender affirming care. I am not afraid to take a stand against the evil of allowing children to have surgeries or chemicals that attempt to alter a child’s natural development.

I do have great compassion for parents and families struggling with their  children who have been victimized by this radical ideology. I also have great love for the many children who are suffering as victims to the  persuasion of this lie. However, my love and compassion for them, cannot  and will not allow me to sacrifice our children to yet another industry who financially profits off of people in crises.

Protecting the 2nd Amendment

I am forever grateful that our founding fathers knew that our right to bear arms should be protected by our Constitution. However, they went even further to safeguard this right when they added the words, “shall not be  infringed.” As a patriot, I am so grateful that we have the means and the freedom to stand as protectors of our nation, regardless of the threat . As a woman, I am also grateful that the Constitution protects my right to have access to the same weapons as those who may wish to do me or my  community harm.

Unfortunately, my opponent does not recognize the valor and sacrifice that  we ask of our young adults, 18-20 years of age, serving in the armed forces  in America. We expect these citizens to go, when needed, and stand as  protectors across the many lands of this world on behalf of the United  States of America. Sen Massey voted against allowing these citizens to  acquire a permit-less carry or enhanced carry permit. What message are we  sending to these young men and women, when we say, “We trust you to go  and serve our country when asked, but we do not trust your judgement  when you are outside of the military rank?” SB1498

My opponent also voted against the bill that would limit the circumstances  that a gun manufacturer could civilly be held liable and against the bill to  make it easier and less costly to obtain a concealed carry permit (SB0822).

I will always fight to protect our Constitutional right to bear arms and while doing so, hope that I will never have to resort to using such force. However, I am grateful to have the right to safeguard myself, my family, my property but most importantly, my nation.

I will do all that I can to reduce violence in Tennessee, but I know the solutions will never be found by weakening our Constitution.

Protecting against Inappropriate Government Entanglements

When I learned the details of the $3.3 billion Transportation Modernization Act that Sen Massey and Gov Bill Lee pushed through the state house,  literally giving ownership of Tennessee roads to a foreign owned company with a non-compete for 50 years, I literally was dumbfounded. My question was, “Have you all been completely open with Tennessee citizens about the details of this package?” The answer was, “No.

How could our Governor and state legislators who voted for this bill come to the point that they decided the best solution for Tennessee to improve infrastructure is to allow a foreign owned company to profit off of the backs of Tennesseans for roads that we already fund through tax dollars?

I realize that none of us want to have taxes raised to build roads, like my opponent did when she voted to raise the gas fuel tax, and I also know that Tennessee is desperate for infrastructure improvements. But, the best answer to these dilemmas are never going to be found in going into business with a foreign owned company that we are locked in for 50 years.  Am I the only one severely alarmed?

What would I do? I would start by using the surplus of the TN budget as  well as the money that our state house is using to invest in private industry.  Could we please start there?

Of course, I care deeply about bringing industry and jobs to TN, but not at any expense. The role of our state government is not to go into business with private industry. Why not? Because once we do, we put TN tax payers on the hook for everything that particular business does. Do you realize that TN Republicans, including Sen Massey approved giving Ford motor company almost $900 million to build their electric car plant in west  Tennessee? (SB8001 & SB8002)

Do you realize that this deal (once again a private/public partnership) is using eminent domain to confiscate farms owned by minority farmers ?

Do you also realize that Ford Motor company has become one of the most  liberal companies in America openly supporting the very causes that TN  Republicans claim to be against (Ford Pride who supports organizations  that promote transgender transitioning care for minors and more)? How  can Republicans, in good conscience, bring a company into Tennessee and  go into business with them, allowing eminent domain to be used, while  knowing that this company will fight in the state house for the very causes that true conservatives are against? It’s not right. Your tax dollars  should never be used in this way.

I will not support such use of your tax dollars. It is wrong. It will hurt Tennessee for generations to come.

Immigration

As you know, closing the border is a federal issue. But, what we can do in Tennessee is work to put pressure on our federal government to close the border and we can prevent Tennessee from becoming a haven for illegal immigration. I recently spent two weeks at the border, in El Paso, so I  could better understand border issues. While there, I witnessed the brokenness of our immigration policies.

What I will tell you is that I Do Not believe we should pass laws in TN that  give benefits to illegal immigrants. State benefits are for our citizens. Sen  Massey voted to give illegal immigrants “in-state” tuition with SB-612. As  well as she voted to give illegal immigrants commercial trade licenses such as plumber’s license, electrical licenses and other trade licenses (SB-2464).  Having a work order does not change your legal status.

I will work to create solutions to improve the chaos that has been created by Biden’s failed border policies that have put all Americans at risk in many ways.

My commitment to you—I will fight for:

• Life from conception until the end of life.

• Protecting the innocence of our children.

• Preserving the divine authority of parents.

• Medical freedom of all individuals without Gov’t or Employer Coercion.

• Our God given right to bear arms without infringement

• Reduced government power and infringement

• Securing TN’s tax codes.

• All rights enshrined in the United States Constitution.

  1. I like the correct language regarding constitutional rights – not granted, but protected by the constitution against tyrannical government.

More “did you know” about the Ford boondoggle: Did you know Ford has cut coal-powered truck manufacturing in half due to lack of interest? Did you know Ford is demanding a $500,000 payment from their dealers who wish to sell coal-powered vehicles, or $1,000,000 to be counted as a premier coal-powered vehicle dealer? Did you know roughly half of Ford dealers in the country said “no thanks, we won’t sell them”? And Lockdown Lee and the TNGOP are “leading the way” with our money and stolen farmland.

Big Pharma Briggs (R-gerrymandered), Massey, McNally and the rest of the TNGOP Pfizer Contingent need to go.

  2. Amazing she sees through the Transportation Act. My organization gave every member of the transportation committee a copy of a 30 year international study on PPPs and it was NOT GOOD. Again, they sailed through Bill’s agenda, which is questionable on every front. Putting a marxist in charge of our schools TWICE is evident.
I read the GOP will not approve her as “bona fide” … they are as bad as the Dems. Lets hope she can stay on the ticket. Great article.
