The Tennessee Conservative [By Paula Gomes] –

Conservative group Patriots Engage Chattanooga (PE Chattanooga) is calling for the Tennessee GOP leadership to remove Hamilton County Tennessee Republican Party (HCGOP) Chair Arch Trimble IV from leadership “for malfeasance and incompetence.”

The group describes themselves as “a grassroots-based voluntary association of American citizens advocating for more responsive, fiscally-responsible, family-friendly and accountable government at all levels.”

Some of their stated values include holding public officials accountable for their actions, and holding bureaucrats responsible when they abuse their powers that depend on public trust. They believe that  local county and city government charters, governments at all levels were established to serve the interests of the people, and that no elected servant at any level is above the law.

Trimble, they say, has openly promoted “the contamination by Democrats of the Republican Primary by raiding the ballot with crossover votes.” PE Chattanooga claims that 95% of the votes in one precinct alone was due to crossover votes and that Hamilton County Democrats openly stated crossing over to spoil the vote by voting for the Republican candidate they felt was weakest.

PE Chattanooga also says that Trimble attempted to thwart TNGOP state bylaws by creating a new PAC to control Hamilton County GOP monies outside of the Hamilton County Republican Party.

The group takes issue with the party chair “vilifying America First patriots, calling them RINOs when in fact they are the majority of the Republican Party that grew to record levels under President Trump.”

Trimble allegedly backed and promoted specific primary candidates over other candidates violating the TNGOP bylaws for the neutral position of the HCGOP. PE Chattanooga says he recruited challengers to “go after candidates bonafide status” while at the same time ignoring the non-bonafide status of candidates who were allowed to run in the primary with no challenges.

Other alleged offenses include:

• Openly stating the Constitution is a living document (a progressive view, not a constitutional conservative view.)

• Shuttering the HCGOP Campaign Headquarters so that there was no public face of the HCGOP for marketing or merchandise.

• Degrading the Lincoln Day Dinner

• Refusing to maintain a social media presence for growth, branding and outreach.

• No apologies for crossover votes, no statement of fixing it in the future or of vetting bona fide candidates.

PE Chattanooga also maintains that Trimble does not understand the demographics of Hamilton County which includes “the base, the community sectors or Democrat groups and threats to the party.”

Ultimately, the group says the Republican base needs to clean house and “build a solid America First Party if they plan to win any future races.”

  1. This is ridiculous. Such a hit job by a “citizen group” that’s not even local.
