When it comes to cooking, the most important thing to me is how easy it is and how much can I make so I can avoid cooking the next day!
A crockpot was the first thing I started using when I was diving into a paleo lifestyle because I wanted to learn how to make my own bone broth.
First, I learned how to roast marrow bones and use that for beef broth, I learned how to use a chicken and snap the bones to get more out of them on the second use (yes, you can reuse bones!).
There are many pros of using a crockpot, but the cons were; leaving a pot plugged in sometimes for 24 hours (it made me nervous about leaving the house with it plugged in), and the smell seemed to linger for days.
I was curious about the Instant pot because the online community for it was HUGE, and the recipes looked amazing! So I bought one and dove in! I could NOT believe that I could make a whole pot of chicken broth in under an hour. Strained, jarred, and ready to use! Not to mention the baked potatoes were tender and buttery every time.
Efficiency is everything for me, and the crockpot that helped me dive into whole food living quietly slipped into the attic where it remains. I am not going to say I will never use it again, they can be very handy for company and large parties, but the Instant Pot wins because it gave me back lost TIME. Something we all wish for more of right?
Read here about both to make the best decision for your whole food journey!
