Moral Voters Needed! – What The Church CAN Do To Help. (Op-Ed)

The enemy today isn’t Biden or Obama, Globalists or RINOS. It is Lucifer, the patron saint of the Left. Don’t be distracted by the names in the news. Our battle today is against evil, plain and simple. To save our nation and our God-given freedoms, America needs every moral human being to help.

We are drastically weakened, hamstrung even, by the fact that our religious institutions misunderstand, or choose to ignore, the basic rules of their participation. Many hide behind that root of all evil – money. Churches (I’ll use that term to include all faith-based organizations) so fear losing a tax-exempt status that they have chosen to believe that they may not act in any way.

However, they are WRONG! There ARE many things that religious leaders and officials CAN do, even under the current tax codes. Read on. What follows is brief history of how this misconception came to be.

In 1954 , in order to destroy his opponent in the US Senate primary, Lyndon Johnson introduced the Johnson Amendment to a bill going through Congress. That opponent was being very successfully supported by organizations, who stood against the UN and Communism. “Christian churches were strongly aligned and outwardly vocal about the Anti-Christian actions of communists worldwide”.

Lyndon B. Johnson muzzled the moral voices of the Christian Church in civil discourse by his 501(c)(3) amendments on July 02, 1954.

To rid his opponent of support and the nation of a moral voice, Johnson shrewdly offered the tax exemption (now known as 501(c))3), as a “favor” to religious groups, which had never needed one in the first place. Churches were NEVER subject to taxes, under the First Amendment of our Constitution; “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment or religion…” The moral voter was dealt a huge blow by an immoral politician who, even then, hated the freedom that is America, as do so many today.

“Separation of church and state” guards against the establishment of a STATE RELIGION, not the participation of the moral voter in politics! Today, over 30 million Christians are not even registered to vote! It is not known how many other followers of the Judaeo-Christian ethic on which this nation was founded. Think how many elections and policies could be different today, if we were fully engaged.

Here is a list of WHAT A CHURCH MAY DO, even under that illegal bit of tax code:

*REGISTER VOTERS;

*DISTRIBUTE EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS, which endorse neither a candidate nor a party;

*LOBBY on potential legislation as long as the amount spent is less that 5% of the church’s annual budget;

*PASTORS MAY ENDORSE CANDIDATES IN THEIR CAPACITY AS PRIVATE CITIZENS, AND MAY ALLOW THEIR TITLE TO BE USED IN THE ENDORSEMENT;

*PASTORS MAY PARTICIPATE IN POLITICAL COMMITTEES THAT ARE INDEPENDENT OF THE CHURCH.

Here’s the list of WHAT A CHURCH MAY NOT DO:

*Pastors MAY NOT ENDORSE CANDIDATES ON BEHALF OF THE CHURCH;

*CONTRIBUTE DIRECTLY TO CANDIDATES;

*PAY FOR POLITICAL EVENTS FORM CHURCH FUNDS;

*FORM A POLITICAL COMMITTEE WHICH CONTRIBUTES DIRECTLY TO CANDIDATES;

*Allow a campaign or political to SOLICIT FUNDS WHILE SPEAKING AT A CHURCH.

The Bible additionally reassures us that our action in the political arena are right and good: Deut. 10:17-19; Romans 13 1-7; Psalms 34:14; Luke 10:25-37; Acts 14:23; Jeremiah 29:5-6.

My personal favorite of the scriptures, SO apt for today, is, Matt. 7:15 – 20, “Ye shall know them by their fruits.”

PLEASE share the above with every churchman and moral voter you know. It is our duty to stand against evil, and our churches must help.
