The Tennessee Conservative [By Paula Gomes] –

A Clarksville woman suing the state because she says Tennessee law prevented her from aborting her child with a terminal diagnosis is running as a Democrat for House District 75.

Republican Representative Jeff Burkhart currently holds the seat, one that was more recently established after the 2020 Census.

Allie Phillips, who shared the story of her pregnancy and subsequent termination on TikTok, has said that she was not able to get an abortion after the devastating news that her daughter Miley Rose would not survive because of Tennessee law.

When Phillips received the sad news at a 19-week anatomy scan, that her daughter had multiple fetal anomalies not compatible with life, she says the doctor gave her two choices: Continue her pregnancy, or terminate, but to do the second she would have to travel out of state.

Phillips ultimately chose to travel to New York with her husband to terminate her pregnancy, a week after the diagnosis, where she learned that her baby had already died in utero.

Phillips says that common procedures such as D&C after a baby dies in the womb is the same as getting an abortion but Tennessee law specifically states that this type of healthcare is permitted.

Under state law, abortion means “the use of any instrument, medicine, drug, or any other substance or device with intent to terminate the pregnancy of a woman known to be pregnant.” The law does not prohibit procedures that “remove a dead fetus.”

The fact is that the very procedure that Phillips underwent in New York after learning her child had died would also have been legal in Tennessee had she stayed in the state and discovered the news of her child’s passing at home.

Abortion activists have tried to scare women all across the country by saying that procedures like D&Cs are the same as abortion and that women will have to continue carrying dead babies or endure ectopic pregnancies in states where abortion is now outlawed. This is absolutely not true.

While some abortions do use the same procedures performed in a D&C, the difference is that in a D&C, the child has already died, whereas in an abortion, the procedure takes place while the child’s heart is still beating.

Phillips was recruited by the Center for Reproductive Rights after her TikTok videos got their attention. She has since joined their multi-state lawsuit. It’s unclear how Phillips reconciles costing taxpayers money while also wanting to represent taxpayers in the State House.

The Democratic contender for District 75 says she was also inspired to run after meeting with Representative Burkhart whose response to her story she found lacking in sympathy. Burkhart, is pro-life.

Ultimately, Phillips says she is running for Miley Rose, her deceased daughter who she traveled to New York to abort, and everyone in Tennessee of reproductive age. Abortion issues aside, Phillips also says that she supports the funding of public schools and has concerns about infrastructure in Clarksville.

I am having trouble reconciling her double standards. She named her baby and is grieving but also wanted to murder her? That was her intent and the two don’t really jive. I DO know that many women do grieve after their abortions and have trouble forgiving themselves. That is very different than this scenario. She had intent to murder this baby who has a name and was angry she couldn’t. I don’t follow this logic. Also, how concerning her lack of understanding of the difference between a D&C and abortion, yet she wants us to have her represent us. I’m just incredibly puzzled by her.

“Phillips was recruited by the Center for Reproductive Rights…”

That pretty much explains it all.

She is definitely mistaken if she thinks a D&C is the same as an abortion. In case anyone else shares this misunderstanding, an abortion involves a live fetus being killed, dismantled, and removed for the mother’s uterus, while a D&C procedure may involve a deceased fetus or simply diseased tissue or abnormal tissue growth in the uterus.

I agree. The 2 faces of this person do not match. It is totally natural/understandable to grieve the loss of your unborn child, whether perfect or afflicted. It is not logical that you would demand the right to cause the death of the child and then, demand that same right for other women, knowing it can cause long -lasting consequences. She has no business holding any public office.

It sounds like she had aspirations, as an activist, to create a situation that will generate votes. Doesn’t make any sense how she’s grieving, yet wanted an abortion.

I bet she’s lying and positioning herself for Demoncrat votes to start her career in politics. A basic strategy that so many have used in the past 10 years to get hits on social media and what several leftist politicians have done to get elected (use controversial topic to generate votes).

As an agnostic person reading this, that’s all I can instinctively surmise.

I reside in Clarksville, and I plan to volunteer for Burkharts campaign, and to expose her fake narrative and her resulting hypocrisy, both in the abortion issue and election issues. She is of 2 minds, and that is the mind of an unstable person.
