The Tennessee Conservative [By Jason Vaughn] –
Over the weekend, The Tennessee Conservative conducted a poll regarding Illegal Immigration issues in Tennessee with the intent of helping Republican members of the Joint Study Committee on Refugee Issues make decisions on legislation and policy to keep Tennessee’s borders more secure.
The data collected from the survey highlights the viewpoints of Conservatives in Tennessee and was sent to all the members of the committee for review prior to their final meeting yesterday, November 15th, 2021.
Representative Bruce Griffey (R-Paris) was slated to present the survey results during the committee meeting but, unfortunately, was not in attendance due to Covid illness. Luckily, Representative Chris Todd (R-Madison County) volunteered in his stead and read the results into the record during the meeting.
Todd stated that an average of 97% responded “no” to a series of 7 questions on whether Tennessee should receive or aid illegal immigrants at taxpayers expense for housing, education or jobs.
The Tennessee Conservative collected 2,322 responses. Typically, only roughly 1,000 responses are needed to get a +/- 3% variance in a statewide-poll.
However, even if the dissenting opinions were TRIPLED to account for that, the survey results show that the electorate wants action on the issue of illegal immigration.
*Note that the sampling will lean more conservative and that Tennessee Conservative subscribers are not low-information residents.
View the poll results HERE or below. Note: Poll reflects responses as of the morning of November 15th, 2021.
Brandon Lewis, founder of The Tennessee Conservative, notes that if the Committee acts on the will of voters in Tennessee, it will put them in direct conflict with the wishes of large corporations, NFIB and the Chamber of Commerce.
However, Lewis states, “This is why members are elected to represent geographic districts instead of special interests.”
When we posted our survey on social media, Tennessee Conservatives let their opinions be know, here are just a few of the comments:
Jeff Vandiver said, “Have no problems with anyone who is not wanting to destroy our country to become a legal citizen the correct way. Do not support illegal aliens. Do it the right way!!”
“KEEP THEM OUT. GET THEM OUT. My vote goes to whoever says he will pack the illegals up and get them out of this country. NO AMNESTY!,” Gigi Blaxter said.
Dorothy Estabrook stated, “I am sick of (Governor) Lee rolling out the welcome mat at our expense.”
