The Tennessee Conservative [By Adelia Kirchner] –
Over 300 leftist protestors showed up at the Tennessee Capitol on Monday to disrupt a “Stop The Invasion” press conference put on by Congressman Andy Ogles to call for “immediate action to defend Tennessee communities from rising illegal alien crime and for government officials to support federal immigration enforcement.”
The list of “Stop The Invasion” speakers included:
- Congressman Andy Ogles (R-TN-5)
- Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson (R-Franklin-District 27)
- Rep. Gino Bulso (R-Brentwood-District 61)
- Rep. Lee Reeves (R-Franklin-District 65)
- Rep. Kip Capley (R-Summertown-District 71)
- Metro Nashville Councilman Dave Benton (District 28)
- Nashville mother and victim of illegal alien gang violence, Deborah Newitz
As these scheduled speakers delivered their remarks inside the Capitol building, leftist protestors conducted their own program of speeches and chants from the Capitol steps right outside.

According to reports and video footage, protestors harassed law enforcement, pounded on the windows of the Capitol building and taunted those who dared to record their actions from inside the building.

“Well over 300 ‘protesters’ spent Memorial Day banging on State Capitol windows, harassing State Troopers, and protesting ICE patriots who are arresting criminal illegal aliens,” Ogles wrote on social media. “Meanwhile, a brave Brentwood woman stood up and shared how her home was invaded by illegals—while the mob outside defended the criminals who did it. This is what we’re fighting.”

During the press conference, Ogles addressed Midstate ICE operations and blatantly called out Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell for his pushback against a recent ICE effort in Nashville that resulted in almost 200 arrests.
Ogles announced that the Department of Homeland Security would be conducting an investigation into the city mayor due to “the remarks of Freddie O’Connell and the potential for aiding and abetting illegal immigration.”
“Homeland Security and Judiciary committees will be opening an investigation into the mayor of Nashville, his conduct and whether or not federal dollars have been used in criminal enterprise,” said Ogles.

The congressman added that he found it offensive that O’Connell would “politicize the role of Metro’s Police Department, requiring them to snitch on federal agents; that a city mayor would ask citizens to file complaints to the COB if a member of law enforcement is doing their job.”
Leftists labeled Monday’s event as a “pro-ICE” press conference. The purported rally mission of protestors? “Stop the disappearances. Defend the Constitution.”
Protestors of the press conference chanted things like “Deport Andy Ogles” and “We want peace.”

An op-ed published by The Tennessee Lookout the next day even went so far as saying that Ogles “dishonored” Memorial Day with this “political stunt.”
Signs held by protestors pushed sentiments like “Jesus Was An Immigrant,” “Deport Andy Ogles,” “Immigrants Belong,” “Hands Off Our Neighbors,” “No Human Being Is Illegal,” “We Are all Immigrants,” “Hey Andy, Show Us Your Papers” and even “Friend of Freddie.”
“In Tennessee, our commitment to the rule of law is unwavering,” Rep. Gino Bulso reiterated in a social media post following the event. “We stand with @ICEgov and @realDonaldTrump in ensuring those who violate it are held accountable.”
