Metro Police responded after a woman reported a squatter at her new house that is under construction.

The Walls family has been laying the groundwork for their new home for the past year. That was until Troy Walls found something strange.

“There were cigarette buds that I was finding up here, and I couldn’t figure out where they were coming from,” said Troy.

For months, it’s been Troy and occasionally their dog. The shocking discovery was made when their dog Harlin notified them that something was wrong.

Kelly Walls said, “He told me that he found a guy in our house, and of course, I’m like ‘oh gosh’. First thing I’m like wait what happened? He said the guy wasn’t there to steal anything he just wanted to sleep, but we definitely got a scare. We didn’t know who was there, or what was in here, it could have been a raccoon or I don’t know, but Troy heard a voice, and they said ‘call your dog off, I’m coming down,’ and that’s when Troy figured out it was a person.”

The family discovered a squatter inside their home. After the discovery, Troy told News 2 that he escorted the man outside and asked him to leave. The Walls never expected to see the same man back again.

“A neighbor calls because I posted this on Facebook, to a Facebook Group, and she’s like ‘that guy is on your porch trying to get into your house,’ and I’m like you have to be kidding me, this guy came back after all that?” questioned Kelly.

Kelly said in a social media post, “Apparently this is a big issue in Nashville and this guy has been in our neighborhood for quite a while going from house to house that’s under construction!!!!! Scary!! Harlin saved the day by alerting us that this guy was in our house!”

Metro police were called after the second incident. No arrest was made, though. The Walls are hoping that someone in the area can give the stranger options of places to go.

“Shocked, but I mean, I’m not surprised because we live in a city where this could happen,” said Kelly. “Lock the doors, have cameras, you know make sure that you’re checking the whole house, they could be hiding somewhere.”

“Metro police. . .made no arrests.” There. All you need to know. The big cities in TN are beginning to smell like those in deep blue states.
