A Nashville attorney took to Twitter last Wednesday to lament the poor voter turnout for early voting in Nashville.

“Y’all, 152 people voted yesterday in Nashville. Less than 1/10 of a % of registered voters have voted in 6 days of early voting,” the tweet said.

Best Places reports that the political climate in Davidson County is “very liberal” with Democrats outnumbering Republicans roughly 2 to 1.

By Thursday, Davidson County numbers were looking better, with 2,540 reported as the 7 day total, making 0.56% of voters in Davidson choosing to vote early.

According to Election Statistics from the Tennessee Secretary of State’s website, Davidson county had 451,422 registered voters as of December 1st, 2020. In the November 3rd, 2020 general election, 65% of 479,273 registered voters turned out to vote.

Nearby conservative Wilson County saw 2,973 voters come out for early voting after 7 days.

Wilson County has considerably fewer registered voters, 91,029 as of December 1st, 2020, and based off of those numbers, would mean that 3.26% have already voted.

Paris Dennard, RNC National Spokesman and Director of Black Media Affairs spoke with Brandon Lewis, founder of The Tennessee Conservative last week and said that there has been a “steady decline of support” from the Democratic party’s traditional base of younger voters, and members of the black and hispanic communities and it is leading to “declining poll numbers.”

One of the main factors leading to this in Dennard’s opinion is that the Democratic party has not made good on campaign promises that helped elect the Biden/Harris Administration. “They promised student loans would be eradicated,” he said. And even though the “Democrats control everything,” in the United States Congress, issues like police reform have not been dealt with.

“So many people are disapproving of the way the Democrats are handling the country,” said Dennard. “Kitchen table issues matter,” he said, citing inflation that is leading to a “new tax” of $530 a month that the average American family is now having to pay for everyday expenses.

Dennard pointed out that inflation brought on by the Biden/Harris administration is having “a direct effect on every single American, and polls are reflecting it.”
