Resolution Supporting Palestine To Be Presented For Second Time In Knoxville City Council

The Tennessee Conservative [By Kelly M. Jackson] –

For the second time in the last few months, a resolution will be presented in the Knoxville City Council that if passed, will be sent to the Tennessee Congressional Delegation and White House demanding an Israeli ceasefire.

References to the activity in the middle east between the two countries is referenced in the document as “genocide” of Palestinians, due to the retaliation from Israel, which was in response to the attack that occurred on October 7th in Southern Israel near the Gaza strip.

The proposal, is once again initiated by council member Amelia Parker, whose first attempt at the passage of a similar resolution failed because it did not receive a “second” from any other city council members. Because there was no “second,” a vote on the resolution could not take place.

The resolution asks the federal government to work towards a permanent ceasefire and also references the city council’s “support and solidarity” with the people of Palestine.

Parker claims the measure was not about choosing a side but about supporting people who had been the victims of what she likened to a war crime.

At the meeting in November the failure of the resolution was met with discord and disruption as several people in attendance at the meeting chanted “Ceasefire now” and “Free Palestine.” Some protestors also got on the stage with Palestinian flags, causing the meeting to go into a recess.

Some community members argue that Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon’s March visit to Jerusalem is what led to the Israel-Hamas war becoming a focal point in the city. They believe that passing a resolution such as the one proposed would share a positive message of support.

Others argued that the resolution would cause more “divisiveness and hate” in the community. Many Knoxvillians feel that the issue is complicated and is not something that should be brought into city-centered discussions, asking instead why the city would consider becoming involved in something that was taking place thousands of miles away.

It is unclear if the resolution fails to pass a second time, whether the issue will again.

TN needs to focus on TN. Israel was attacked by Palestinians who openly celebrated cruel deaths and atrocious acts of war on unarmed Israeli citizens. Please refocus your responsibilities on the citizens you represent.

Amalia Parker needs to stand up for the people of knoxville. Homelessness and drugs on the rise and she is worried about what is happening across the continent. Stand up for the knoxville citizens.

Finally, somebody at the government level is acting like a human! For too long, AIPAC and other Zionist organizations have run roughshod over Americans – especially our representatives – keeping them from speaking out against the very obvious GENOCIDE taking place in Gaza! Zionism is a Satanic ideology and has absolutely no connection to Judaism! The Zionists pushing for the complete annihilation of innocent Palestinians, love to hide behind the cloak of Jewish victimhood as related to the Holocaust. Make no mistake, Zionists love to take advantage of well-meaning Jews and Christians and use them as their shields for their heinous behavior.

Damn right it’s genocide in Palestine. When you start a war, you’d better be ready to win it on the battlefield because no matter what public opinion says, Israel will fight to the finish. I’ve read the above comment and while I can understand the empathy, I disagree with the findings. Israel did not launch a sneak attack on Palestine, it was the other way around. Blame it on Hamas all you want, but this is no different from Nam. You couldn’t tell your enemies from you friends. Americans died because of it and Israel is determined not to lose lives from sneak attacks from behind. Knoxville would do well to mind it’s own business. It’s not wise to mess with the buzz saw when it’s busy sawing wood.

Tennessee needs to focus on our own invasion.
Angela states war crimes. South Africa already tried that in the ICC and lost.
Start focusing on Knoxville and keep their nose out of international affairs.
City council means just that! She is not using her time to focus on what she was elected to do. She is derelict in her duties.

If you pull the tail of a sleeping lion, you have no right to ask “why are you attacking me?” That is what happened on Oct 7th. Hamas provoked Israel and brutally murdered her people and to this day hold captive Israeli hostages. Israel has every right to fight to get her people back. Israel didn’t start this. She was provoked. If Israel wanted to commit genocide, this war would have been over Oct 8th. Because they are careful, the war continues. Sadly there’s always casualties of war. But to accuse Israel of genocide is evil and anti Semitic. The chant by those supporting the terrorist group Hamas, ‘from the river to the sea’ IS a call for genocide. Not the other way around. When our city brings a Resolution to vote on like this, we as the citizens need to stand up and speak out against such things. It’s our privilege and our right. The other quote of extreme Islamic terriosts is ‘First Saturday, then Sunday.’ Don’t think that what happened in Israel can’t happen here. It can and if we don’t stand up now, it will. Vote no for this Resolution!

I am a retired Air Force veteran of 20 years. Let us not forget how we felt on 9/11 as terrorsits attacked our country and we all vowed to get those who commited this crime, no matter what. Well Israels 9/11 was on Oct 7. We should be in full support for Israel. War has changed and a Terrorist war is very hardand if Israel was not concerned for civilian life there wouldn’t be a war they would all be gone already. Lets look at ourselve and put our efforts to ending our own issues shuch as our sothern borders, and how many illegal aliens are comming in to our country and along with them terrorist, drug dealers ect.

Absolutely No. No support for A Parker.
Palestinian’s may not be allowed to disrupt & distract from the good processes of Knoxville issues. If Palestinians truly want to end the War they started then go there and fight. Otherwise put down your flags and put your strength behind the issues on the Land where they stand.
