Perversion is, once again, to be on the school board agenda in the form of obscene “school” books. Chairwoman Claire Maxwell has demonstrated defiance to Implement Tennessee’s child obscenity laws enacted to protect our children from pornographic books, their words and depictions.

In previous public meetings, several citizens have read the explicit and obscene content of books to the board members. The board is chaired by Claire Maxwell who seems to be attempting to redefine perversion in the image of radical leftist ideologues by voting to make the perverse filthy contents available to our MINOR school children.

This is in direct contravention of a state criminal statute that is so very clear about what constitutes explicit and obscene that almost every other county in Tennessee has already removed these books from student access; Wilson County 400 books removed.

More disconcerting is why do all these other county boards seem to have clarity about perverse content while several members of the ALL-GOP Rutherford board can’t get a moral grip on perversion.

Board member Butch Vaughn, who voted to provide some vile books to the kids, provided us with a short soliloquy on the protection and defense of librarians failing to mention his first responsibility: the welfare of the children.

The reportedly well-propertied Stan Vaught was more interested in heading all school district real estate transactions curiously more important than the sexualization of our kids, while Frances Rosales seemed overwhelmed by the whole process fanning her face with a file folder as she abandoned her elected post for the serenity of the chamber hallway; it really wasn’t that complicated!

Messrs. Vaught and Vaughn should resign from the board as they seem to have come to the board with interests prioritizing real estate and county employees over school children. Claire Maxwell should at least resign her board chairmanship with the board reinstating the previous Chairwoman Tammy Sharp who has recovered from her fight with breast cancer.

I suggest they fully implement the law or tender resignations because further defiance will unnecessarily, but assuredly require community demands to move the process to the criminal courts.
