Sweeping Grassroots Victories With Williamson County GOP Reorganization

The Tennessee Conservative [By Kelly M. Jackson] –

On Tuesday April 18th, Williamson County GOP held their highly anticipated and hotly contested reorganization convention.  At that event, which has been fraught with drama and intrigue, an entirely new slate of folks were elected to represent Williamson County Republicans.

This feat was accomplished only through the hard work of local grassroots. Consistently over the past year and in particular the past several months, they engaged in an information campaign utilizing an army of volunteers through the use of social media, phone calls, mass emails, and showing up at every opportunity to engage with the public.

All the hard work and efforts to illuminate the alleged misdeeds and corruption paid off when the entire slate of grassroots candidates handily won each of their elections with a voting ratio of 3-1.

The Tennessee Conservative reached out to Scott Golden, the state GOP Party Chairman, to get his comment about the incredibly successful event which hosted a historic turnout of nearly 1,000 people. We asked Golden what he felt could be attributed to the high turnout, an event that has never seen more than 400 hundred people attend.

Golden said, “We were extremely pleased with the turnout for Tuesday night’s event for the Williamson County Republican Party Reorganization as 609 votes were cast for chairman.  We appreciate the type of campaigns both candidates, Tracy Miller and Cheryl Brown, conducted throughout the election and was probably the main factor in Williamson’s high turnout.  Williamson County was the 89th GOP reorganization conducted this year with only a few more scheduled for TNGOP to conclude this process.  We are excited about the new chairs and executive committees and anticipate that about half of our Republican Parties will have new chairs for the coming 2023/24 campaign cycle.  We appreciate all the Republicans that volunteer their time and money to help, support, and elect Republicans across Tennessee and we look forward to working with them to ensure our continued victories.”

We asked Dr. Tracy Miller, the newly elected chair, about what he most looks forward to and the vision he has as we move into this new era in Williamson County Republican politics.

Miller said “I think the part of this election that excites me the most is the team of wonderful, gifted people who were voted in. A committee is run by consensus, which can be viewed as a blessing or a curse. I think the skills they bring; the integrity, compassion, and commitment will be a blessing for Williamson County. Moving forward, we will strive to be more responsive and transparent to our members, our community, and to our legislators. We want it crystal clear where and how we stand on the issues that affect our freedoms. We are certain that if we adhere to the Republican platform Tennessee will continue to prosper. This role is a constant challenge. I know we will all be put through our paces, and we will all face our share of attacks, but the toughest jobs are the best ones! You get the chance to surprise yourself and to preserve or improve things for the next generation.”

For quite some time in Williamson County, residents have found that when it came to having a GOP that listened and endeavored to be a voice for true conservatism on behalf the residents, the Williamson County GOP CEC consistently fell short, conceding to RINO politicians and their agendas.

The tipping point came in the 2022 election cycle, when candidates that were told they would be allowed to run as a Republican were not supported equally, if at all.

Some who had previously been given permission to run as a Republican were either kicked off the ballot after the deadline had passed to run any other way, or forced to run as an Independent because the bylaws were applied in disproportionate fashion.  Those who made it to the ballot did not receive the same support from the county party from the funds that were dispersed for promotion through the party’s official social media pages and website.

With this week’s election, an entire new slate of candidates have been vetted and have committed to represent true conservatism and to work with the people rather than against them.

Thank you Gary Humble and Tennessee Stands as well as Robin Steenman and Williamson Families as well as Moms for Liberty for finally organizing Williamson County conservatives into a coherent active force that was finally successful in hopefully transforming the county Republican Party from the political arm of the Chamber of Commerce into an effective conservative political force.

How was it a “grassroots” victory when the candidate for chair is the husband of the current Williamson County Republican SEC woman?

Hard to not see it as swamp when the lady in power is the wife of the candidate and she refused to recuse herself from making multiple vouching exceptions to allow people to vote in the election. What was the criteria she used and did she stick with that criteria? Her being one of the decision makers for the exceptions taints the election with appearance of insider, swampy, self dealing for those newly elected.

Is that why so many officers resigned? Unfair elections … smh
