I get it… I’m as frustrated with the current leadership in Nashville as the next person. It’s why I founded and run the Tennessee Conservative at great personal expense.
However, there are 4 reasons I support Marsha over David. I explain it in this interview, but please read on for my reasoning in this email below the video…

#1 Closing the GOP Primaries: To be honest, I am more worried about what happens in the legislature and local offices than the governor’s seat. Closing the primaries will prevent between 500 and 3000 Democrat votes in each election – hundreds every cycle across the state. This will help shift the legislature in a Conservative direction.
Marsha is the only candidate who brought a bill to do this in 1998 and is vocal about following through. We’ve never heard this from Lee, Sexton or McNally. We almost got it through last year and John Crawford, chair of Gov. Ops, the largest opponent, lost his primary for this and other reasons. I am hopeful and will see this done before I die….
#2 Illegal Immigration: Independents need Democrat votes to win. It’s a fact. Hatley will not be politically able to fight this and win. The only thing Hatley has said on Illegal Immigration is that he’s “work with the federal government.” That’s like working with the mafia to reduce crime. No. Tennessee must lead at the state level. An independent won’t do it.
#3 Hatley Doesn’t Pay His Debts: When you file bankruptcy, it’s not just paperwork. All the small businesses – the vendors, service and product providers – have hundreds of thousands of dollars taken from them when a larger business folds. They trusted you to pay – and you lied to them. It puts many small businesses under who are caught up in the bankruptcy – I’ve seen in for years as a coach. It’s devastating.
I can’t support a man who takes from others and never makes a personal effort to pay them back. It’s wrong.
#4 Hatley Has Only Voted in One Election… Ever: If you want to run the state government, you need to have demonstrated you cared enough to engage in the past. Hatley never did. It’s not a track record I can support.
Now, is Marsha perfect? Nope. Do I like everything she’s ever done? Nope. I don’t know of any perfect candidates.
However, while I am a Conservative first, I am a Republican second.
I still feel our party is the best hope for TN, broken as it is in many places.
In politics, you always have differences of opinion – I do not take them personally. There will be a NEW thing we’ll disagree on next month…
The key is to find common ground when we can and work together. To respect differences of opinion when we don’t… and move on.
I do not think ill of Hatley supporters. And I hope you’ll extend the same courtesy to me after my years of service to you.
