Democrats controlled Tennessee from Reconstruction well into this century. But when the party abandoned its Bible Belt values and did not support favorite son Al Gore’s 2000 presidential bid, it was evident a red tidal wave was washing the blue from Tennessee. By 2008, Democrats in the state disappeared faster than a jack rabbit can mate in spring and became an endangered species.

Although the state is solid Red, if we read between the legislative lines, it is hard for the electorate to comprehend why there is a lot of purple and shades of blue within the Tennessee law books and in the executive policies? “RINOS are one of the most dangerous animals in politics.” (Ted Cruz)

On his first day in office Biden signed an executive order to open the southern U.S. border to every illegal who wanted to come to the U.S. According to Reuters, the U.S. is facing the biggest surge of illegals in 20 years. Yet homeland security secretary Alejandro Mayorkas denies there is a border crisis? He said, “Our goal is simply to have a more orderly process based on our current priorities.”

Recently The Tennessee Conservative discovered illegal children are being shipped to Tennessee in the dead of night to the Wilson Air Center, Chattanooga, TN. And this lit a fire under both state and federal Tennessee politicians. It also brought up the question: “Do federalists have authority to do this to a state that always opposed illegal aliens? And how do we put an end to this ASAP?

Tennessee has a chance to show other states how to end forced illegal immigration. So why is it so hard to do? In 2000, Tennessee Democrats allowed a rapid increase in illegal immigration. And in 2001 The Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition was formed to assist these illegals in obtaining social services, to teach them where to live, where to work, and to help them network.

Immigration is not included in the Constitution. But Article IV of the Constitution states: the United States “must protect states against invasion.” If the Federal government cannot do this, sovereign states have the right to protect their borders under the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

If this is true, why are there so many ambiguities and disillusions about state authority to protect their sovereignty and security? This is due to the federal government, the Supreme Court, and the UN mudding the immigration waters with questionable human rights, asylum laws and a quagmire of international demands by third world countries. And progressives are eager to welcome them.

In 2001 Democrats passed a bill to issue drivers licenses to illegals without social security cards. When Governor Don Sundquist signed HB 983 into law amid protests by the electorate, the state turned to Republicans who promised to stop illegal immigration. Soon the GOP controlled the state.

Each year state lawmakers propose bills to curb the influx of illegals but TRRIC lobbyists and other illegal activist groups stop these bills in committee. Although the federal government has not been able secure our borders or stop this dangerous “illegal invasion,” the Courts continue to strike down state laws that curb illegal immigration. In 2010 SCOTUS ruled against Arizona’s immigration laws, with Justice Antonin Scalia dissenting. He argued, “There is no provision in the Constitution limiting states from enacting their own immigration policy. Arizona did not supersede federal statutes.”

In a 2020 report by the Commission on Immigration Reform, they predicted if we did not reform our immigration policies, the entire system would implode. They advised faster processing of illegals to increase deportation and reform TVPRA laws to curb their abuse by “non-victims of sex trafficking.”

The current border crisis is a result of Biden’s abuse of the TVPRA, Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act passed by Congress in 2008. This bill was enacted to protect minor children, “only” seeking asylum in the U.S. from “sex trafficking.” But Joe Biden has instructed border agents to allow “all minor children into the U.S. even if they have no way of proving if they are under 18.”

In September of 2017 Donald Trump signed an executive order permitting states for the first time to opt out of accepting foreign refugees. If they took no action by Jan. 21, funding for refugees would end, effectively ending future resettlements. But Trumps strategy backfired. Republican governors bowed to local activist groups and took the bait. Yes, this included Governor Bill Lee of Tennessee.

“There’s no way to answer this. At the state we have no say in immigration policy.” (Gov. Bill Lee)

Last month when it was revealed that large numbers of illegal children had arrived in Chattanooga in the dark of the night to be bussed to cities across the southeast, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee said he was unaware of this? He claimed he declined Biden’s request to bring illegal children into the state. He also informed Washington to secure the border and cease doing this immediately.

On May 11, 2021, Lee signed a joint letter, with other Republican Governors to urge President Biden to take immediate action at the border. “We have neither the resources nor the obligation to solve the federal government’s problem and foot the bill for this Administration’s misguided action.”

Lindsey Graham said “its one thing to shoot yourself in the foot, but don’t reload the gun.” President Trump gave the states authority to veto refugee resettlements but they accepted them, not thinking what they signed on to. The U.S. has always been the world leader in “true refugee resettlement.” They have done more for displaced refugees from around the globe than any other nation. But that is entirely different than opening the borders to all illegal aliens who want to waltz right over them.

The lines of authority between states and the federal government are significantly defined by the U.S. Constitution. However for years states have allowed the Supreme Court to decide cases that invalidate them. Additionally they have been trading rights for favors from the federal government. It is only when federalism gets out of control they want them back; which is easier said than done.

The only tool the states have to fight federalism and stop illegal immigration is the 10 Amendment. We have elections on the horizon and it’s up to us if we shoot ourselves in both feet again; or take our best shot and elect federal and state representatives who fight for our 10th amendment rights!

As Barack Obama told us, we must remind every candidate that “Elections have consequences.”

Illegal immigration is the key tool in the progressive playbook to turn every red state blue. RINOS will only prolong the agony, and stave off the inevitable consequences of a total socialist regime.

If we really wish to keep Tennessee a conservative state we need to elect real conservatives not RINOS. “It’s time for ordinary Americans to come out of the shadows and remind Washington every day in words and actions that we are a sovereign nation, not a sanctuary nation.” (Michelle Malkin)

It’s hard enough to pay for our own kids, and we refuse to pay for kids that were sent to invade us. Send them back, or give them to the white house.

Enact legislation to stop this invasion. Its personal to me, My wife is a foreigner, she came to the US on a INS fiancee visa in 2003. Legally. She could not get a job because she had no SSN, but every where we looked Hispanics were working in the construction and food service deliveries. She was naturalized in 2006 in Honolulu. I am a legal immigrant to her country as well, also done legally. I maintain a residence there as well as in East Tenn.

If they want close their borders then close ours. TN. doesn’t need this problem. Load their butts back on a plane and send them to their homeland.

Letters to Biden don’t do anything. If all TN has is a bunch of RHINOS, I don’t see much hope. Newly elected politicians may in the beginning have good intentions, but they are swayed, bought off and corrupted once in office. There are a few good ones like DeSantis and Rand Paul, but they are very much in the minority.

“Invasion is Not Immigration!” The sign is absolutely correct. An invasion is an invasion and should be treated as such regardless of where it comes from. Texas Governor Greg Abbott is suing the Biden Administration! Perhaps Gov. Lee should consider joining him? Just a forethought!

The Governor should sue Biden for violating the 10th amendment.

I think the Governor should station either law enforcement of National guard at airports and when a plane load of illegals comes it, refuse to allow them to deplane and force the plane to fly out of Tennessee–to the point of origin or some other distant state. When buses of illegals are seen they should be escorted out of the state by troopers.

We need to amend the TN Constitution and have the state legislature appoint the Attorney General, instead of the State Supreme Court. He is responsible for defending our 10th Amendment. We are the only US state that allows the court to select their own adversary? Is this right? This guy should have filed suit against the feds long ago for violating our sovereignty!
